LEAD - Leadership, Ethics, Aspiration, and Determination - is one of the primary means of introducing Young People to Rotary Values and is less than 3 months away: 10-11 October 2026 at Camp Cuyamaca.
For clubs who are having trouble finding a way to sponsor students, there are a variety of options to make this investment in your local middle school!
First, you can apply for a district grant BUT YOU NEED TO DO THAT SOON! DEADLINE IS AUGUST 1st and your club needs to have someone who attended the district grant training session! If you have that someone in your club, the LEAD Committee can help make that happen - we have several members with expertise in getting those grants submitted. Let us know!
Second, if you have a local middle school but lack the funding OR if you have the funding but lack a local middle school, the LEAD Committee can help facilitate getting clubs together who can solve these problems. Each year we have clubs who are willing to sponsor students from their local school but just don't have the funding. We can connect you to clubs who are interested in sponsoring LEAD students with available funding but just don't have the infrastructure to coordinate with a school.
As always, the LEAD Committee is ready to visit any club who wants more information. We have a short 10-minute pep talk to get your club excited about this wonderful investment in the future of our youth.
More information is available at https://www.rotary5340lead.org.
Clubs interested in a visit can contact Jim Piburn, District LEAD Chairman and Rotary Club Coordinator, at jpiburn@rotary5340lead.org, to schedule a visit. Don’t let this opportunity pass without your club’s enthusiastic support!
