Rotary District 5340 and the Downtown San Diego Rotary Club have joined with Father Joe's Villages to announce a new program.

Area residents are asked to send their unused and likely unwanted foreign currency to the San Diego Downtown Rotary Club which will have it converted to US$ and donated to Father Joe's in support of their Family Empowerment Program.

We are certain there are many Rotarians who have travelled overseas and returned with foreign currency they may never use.  The currency sits unwanted in drawers and boxes.  Why not put it to good use?

The Family Empowerment Program is an intensive sober living program dedicated to helping families achieve higher wages in employment and stability in long-term housing.  It is funded by private donations.    The program has been successful in serving over 50 families (nearly 200 individuals) since its opening at the end of 2022.

Foreign currency may be dropped off at your club meetings and brought to the Governor's Dinner.  If more than $200 US$ equivalent is collected, a member of the Downtown club will arrange a pickup if requested.

Funds may also be mailed to the San Diego Downtown Rotary Club at P.O. Box 80336, San Diego, CA  92138-0036.
