It's time to showcase stars in the making! That's right, your local high school may be harboring the next Itzhak Perlman or Louis Lortie!
The 2024-25 District-wide Rotary Youth Instrumental Competition (RYIMC) is kicking off. Every club in District 5340 once again is invited to join in seeking out, recognizing and rewarding the most musically gifted and dedicated high school students in our communities. This long-standing Rotary tradition annually demonstrates Rotary's commitment to today's youth and tomorrow's leaders by awarding cash prizes to local young musicians demonstrating the highest levels of excellence in talent, training and their love for music.
Now is the time to begin planning for your club's participation! We especially urge those clubs who have not participated in recent years, or perhaps ever, to join in this very fulfilling Youth Services initiative. Those attending this year's Governor's Dinner last June were treated to a sampling of the extraordinary talents of the next generation of musicians in our midst.
Club Level contests (preliminaries) are held in January and first week of February, with two Regional Level contests (semi-finals) held near the end of February. This year's Finals are tentatively scheduled for March 22, 2024, when the District's Grand Prize of $2000 will be awarded, as well as substantial cash prizes to the runners-up.
Not only has the practice and mastery of music been proven to benefit all ages and cultures, particularly developing adolescents, but music itself enhances all of our lives and our world. Join us in this year's RYIMC! Together, we can make beautiful music 🎶
