On Saturday, April 24, Rotarians at Work Day,  three Rotary clubs teamed up to put the finishing work into the La Mesa Community Garden at MacArthur Park. La Mesa Sunrise, El Cajon Sunset and La Mesa built 2 new planters and carried them into the garden, removed weeds, moved large rocks to line the bottom of the fence, built some metal shelves, leveled the ground, added mulch and spread it out to cover the bare dirt, and filled the planters with garden soil!

The La Mesa Community Garden at MacArthur Park opened yesterday, May 1.  The garden has 41 plots, including four that are ADA accessible.

The garden sits near the city's public swimming pool, net to the former site of the clubhouse for Sun Valley Golf Course, which closed in 2017.
