The Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club celebrated Community Week by partnering with the Santee Kawanis Club and West Hills High School Key Club along with the newly formed Interact Club from Santana High School.  This new Interact Club was spearheaded by a RYLA student sponsored by the Santee-Lakeside Rotary club who was so motivated by his experience last year at camp that he went back to his school and found not one but three teachers who were willing to be their sponsor and a whole host of students who wanted to be involved.  This is the first Interact Club started by the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club.

The project itself was coordinated by Santee-Lakeside Rotary club president, Karen Fleck and Santee-Kawanian Dan Bickford.  Their joint effort was the creation of a butterfly garden at Woodglen Vista Park in Santee.  They planted 160 Monarch Butterfly friendly plants, bushes and trees. As you can see from the pictures below, there were a lot of students involved.   Another outstanding example of Creating Hope in the World.
