The Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club has a longstanding tradition of supporting the East County Transitional Living Center. Among their cherished service projects is the collection of toilet paper, aptly named "Give a Sheet." The club donates the collected toilet paper to the faith-based emergency shelter, which serves both individuals and families. Additionally, the shelter offers transitional living and a range of social services, including transportation for healthcare appointments. The shelter program lasts for 90 days, while the transitional living provides a 200 sq. ft. room, equipped with beds, a bathroom, a refrigerator, and a TV, for a nominal fee. This includes all utilities and the option to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at set times. This arrangement enables residents to save sufficient funds for deposits, the first and last month's rent, and other expenses associated with moving into a new home. One can only imagine how much toilet paper these families go through!
