Nominations are being solicited for the 2020 Rotary District 5340 Pathways to Peace Award.  Due December 10, 2019, nominations can be submitted by individual Rotarians or Rotary Clubs.  The nominee can be an individual or an organization, Rotarian or non-Rotarian.

District 5340's Pathways to Peace Committee each year present the Pathways to Peace Award to an exemplary person or organization, Rotarian or non-Rotarian.  This award is presented at the annual Peace Forum that Rotary sponsors with the Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego (USD).  The Peace Forum will take place on February 22, 2020 at USD's Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice.

The Award honors individuals or organizations who have made a significant impact on advancing peace, demonstrating exemplary performance in the field of peace building and peace making.  The work can be of local, national or international scope.  Nominees are expected to be those who have made a significant, distinguished difference in advancing conflict prevention and resolution, improving community development, and increasing human rights through the leadership and coordination of peace building efforts.  The awardee will be selected based on demonstrated commitment to the foregoing and actions taken to bring about the change referred to in Rotary's Mission Statement: help build goodwill and peace in the world.

While considering nominees, it is helpful to keep in mind Rotary's vision: seeing a world where people unite and take action to create lasting changes - across the globe, in communities, and in ourselves.  And the achievement of this mission is focused on Rotary's area of focus: promoting peace; fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; saving mothers and children; supporting education; and, growing local economies.

Nominations should be submitted with the Pathways to Peace Nomination Form available for download here.  Amplifying information can be attached to the Nomination Form.  Nominations need to be submitted by December 10, 2019 and sent to  Joy Prowse at: joyprowse@stanprowse.com or mailed to 7206 Aviara Drive, Carlsbad, CA  92011.
