On July 24, 2025, the Rotary Club of Sweetwater San Diego extended vital support to flood-affected communities in the Philippines through a meaningful collaboration with its sister club, Rotary Club of Meycauayan East (District 3770). The donation was made possible through interest income generated by Sweetwater’s Micro Lending Project in San Rafael, Bulacan.
This sustainable initiative—funded entirely by club donations—has empowered over 100 micro-entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Beyond economic development, the project also serves as a source of funding for humanitarian efforts. In this case, a portion of the interest income was donated to RC Meycauayan East, which organized and coordinated the distribution of emergency relief goods to residents of Barangay Zamora, City of Meycauayan, severely impacted by recent typhoon-related flooding and monsoon rains.
The funds were used to purchase essential supplies for families in need, demonstrating how Rotary’s commitment to service and sustainability can create ripple effects across borders.
