On Saturday, May 11, Santee-Lakeside Rotarians participated in the National Association of Letter Carriers' 27th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest single-day food drive in the nation.  Food donations collected by the Santee letter carriers stay in the community of Santee.  Rotarians joined in by helping off load the food donations from the postal trucks, weigh and then reload items onto a truck donated by Packaging Solutions for transport to the Santee Food Bank.  Residents donated 11,346 pounds of food items.  Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club unloaded over 1200 pounds per Rotarian volunteer.  The Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club has been participating in this event for several years.  Waiting at the Santee Food Bank were several community volunteers ready to receive the donated items.  Once items arrived, volunteers began sorting out donations for placement on shelves in the food bank.  It was a true community event with the residents of Santee being the beneficiaries of this joint effort.
