On Friday, September 20, 2019, women from all over San Diego Country attended San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce's 17th Annual Women in Leadership Award Luncheon held at Sycuan Resort in Jamul.  Notable women throughout the region were recognized for their "Will to Succeed".  Nominees are San Diego County residents who have demonstrated exemplary character, integrity and outstanding leadership, not only in their field but in their community.

This year, the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club had an unprecedented five nominees - one winning one of the five leadership awards.  Nominees were Rotarians Karen Fleck, Debbie Lentz, Elana-Levens Craig, Darcy Fagerwold and Marlene Best.  Congratulations to Marlene Best, Santee City Manager  who was one of five recipients of this year's Women in Leadership Awards.  She joins Santee-Lakeside Rotarian, District 5340 Newsbits Editor and Assistant Governor, Sandy Pugliese who was the recipient of this award in 2006.

Each one of these women not only are respected in their profession,  but they also share a deep commitment to Rotary and serve as outstanding community role models, pouring their hearts and souls into making this world a better place and  demonstrating that ordinary people can and are doing extraordinary things all the time.
