Saturday, November 9 was an extremely successful "First Annual Oaks North Clean Up Day", sponsored by the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club.  Over 35 members of the Club worked all morning, supplemented by members of the Rancho Bernardo High School Basketball Team, Mis Rancho Bernard - Taylor Cloutier and Miss Rancho Bernardo Teen - Sophia Latifzadeh.

It was estimated that over 200 cars delivered all kinds of items to the collection center; pick-up teams also went to 36 homes in cases where residents were unable to deliver them.  A record 145 file boxes of personal files were shredded and hauled away by a doument shredding company and an e-waste truck was filled to capacity.  Additionally, several tons of non-recyclable waste was transported to the Miramar landfill.  A large truck load of reusable items were also picked up by "Interfaith Community Services" and the "The Assistance League" thrift store in Escondido.

Claudia Gonzales, the Oaks North Community Center Manager was totally enthusiastic in her praise, and said that their office has received many calls expressing appreciation for the event.
