Grace Van Zyl, Chair, Rotary Action Group for Peace highlights the role peace plays in Economic and Community Development.

It is no secret that economic hardship and poverty often exacerbate conflicts.  When communities lack basic resources, frustration and tension rise, leading to potential conflicts. Economic development provides jobs, enhances livelihoods, and reduces poverty, which directly contributes to more stable and peaceful societies.

By investing in community initiatives that create jobs and skills training, communities can engage young people in constructive roles, making them key stakeholders in the peace process.
