Charlotte Cofield, Community Service chair for Old Mission Rotary was so impressed by STAR/PAL (Police Athletic League) that she reached out to the organization last summer for a potential service related project partnership.   Her goal was to tackle head on the lack of communication between law enforcement and inner city youth that has created a never-ending stream of violent tragedies across our nation.

The mission of STAR/PAL is to engage underserved youth with law enforcement and develop trusting and long-term relationships. STAR/PAL offers free programs for undeserved and at-risk youth in San Diego that are led by law enforcement officers.  These programs focus on violence prevention, mentoring, leadership, civic engagement, outdoor enrichment, and physical fitness.

Old Mission Rotary assisted STAR/PAL with a school backpack give away in the fall and with distributing Thanksgiving dinners in November.  On Thursday, April 22, 2021 at STAR/PA's Colina Park facility in City Heights, STAR/PAL  designated Old Mission Rotary as their "Community Partner of the Year!"

Congratulations to Old Mission Rotary for outreach efforts to make a difference in the lives of youth!
