On Tuesday, January 21st, The Art Pratt Foundation of Old Mission Rotary presented a $9800 grant to the Speckels Organ Society for a Pipe Organ Kit to be used for educational programs at local schools.  A pipe organ kit is a set of various components like pipes, bellows, and keys that allow students to build a functional pipe organ that can be played so they can understand how a real pipe organ works.  The grant was accepted by San Diego Civic Organist Raul Prieto Ramirez who reminded us that all public organ concerts at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion are free!

Also, the club's Art Pratt Foundation issued grant check of $8,114 to Media Arts Center San Diego for purchasing filmmaking equipment.  The Media Arts Center San Diego (MACSD) evolved out of the San Diego Latino Film Festival, which started in 1993 and has grown from a festival to a mid-size organization with diverse statewide programs and services for residents, visitors, and independent and amateur filmmakers.  MACSD has been teaching media arts classes and workshops to youth for over 17 years both in and outside the classroom.

The organization focuses on serving people of marginalized communities by using media as a tool for social change and artistic expression.
