Rotarians from the Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Club expanded its efforts in support of the Poway Food Connection (Food Bank).

What started as fruit picking from small local orchards and then donating the crop to the Food Bank has now evolved to also helping regularly to collect donations from grocery stores and packing boxes of items for the Food Banks’ three-times a week pickup schedule.

Over time, some members of the Rancho Bernardo Noon Rotary Club  became volunteers as well seeing that there was a continuing need for help. The Poway Food Connection supplies over 700 boxes of food to needy families in North County weekly!

Additionally, the Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Club  stepped up to paint the facility and conduct minor repairs over the past year.  Recently, it was determined that there was a need for a new entrance ramp and patio flooring.  After all the work in securing estimates and obtaining funding was arranged, the cost of lumber doubled.  To the rescue came both the Rancho Bernardo Noon Rotary Club and the San Diego North Sunrise Rotary Club who donated the extra funds to finish the job.  San Diego North also joined in on the rebuilding project.

This is a shining example of the power of Rotary – a  need is identified -  then things get done.  If a club needs help, other clubs step up to lend a hand and soon it is a collaboration!
