This weekend, under the extraordinary leadership of Mike Fuqua and the Rotary International District 5340 Military Coordinating Committee, Operation Flags for Vets returned to Miramar National Cemetery with breathtaking impact. Over 300 volunteers from across San Diego and Imperial counties joined together in a powerful display of gratitude—placing 20,000 American flags to honor every veteran laid to rest at MNC.
This was more than a service project. It was a living tribute—a moment where hands, hearts, and history came together to remember the fallen and reaffirm our promise: we will never forget.
With flags waving gently across every row and columbarium wall, the cemetery became a canvas of sacrifice and unity—showing what’s possible when a community comes together with deep respect and purpose.
Rotary District 5340 not only revived a tradition that MNC has long gone without—they’ve ensured it lives on for generations to come. Today, we didn’t just plant flags. We planted meaning. We planted legacy. We planted love.
To all who showed up, served, and stood in silence—thank you for making today unforgettable.
