Just a reminder that this year's LEAD event (Leadership, Ethics, Aspiration, and Determination), a key initiative for introducing young people to Rotary values, is scheduled for October 12-13, 2024. The application deadline is September 8th.

The club funds the $300 cost per student, so there is no charge to the school, parents, or students. This investment yields significant returns as many 8th graders are introduced to Rotary, remain engaged through their high school's Interact Club and RYLA, and many RYLA participants are former LEAD attendees. They often continue on to Rotaract and eventually join their local Rotary Club.

Since its inception in 2009, the District LEAD Program has offered clubs a chance to host a distinctive two-day leadership, confidence, and personal growth conference for 8th grade students in the area. These students, chosen for their proven leadership abilities, participate in a weekend camp orchestrated, delivered, and financed by local Rotarians. They engage with speakers who further cultivate their leadership potential at a pivotal moment in their growth.

More than 70% of district clubs have engaged in LEAD, leaving 30% yet to provide this chance to their local students. Your club's involvement could be transformative! Clubs can endorse up to three pairs of students—one boy and one girl per pair—from their partner middle schools. The LEAD Committee is ready to assist clubs that have not yet committed, helping them connect with middle school administrators and offering a tailored presentation to prioritize this initiative at your club meetings.

LEAD empowers youth to tackle ethical issues, enhance leadership and communication skills, self-motivate towards achieving goals, and foster a positive life perspective—all in a fun, friendly environment.

The program introduces proactive self-leadership through goal setting and achievement, underscores the significance of self-care encompassing emotional, social, and physical health, and promotes selflessness by encouraging service to others.
