Greetings from the city-state of Singapore the home to the 2024 Rotary International Convention. The Rotary convention is where friendship and learning come together to inspire.
A Global Celebration
Singapore, known for its vibrant culture, modern infrastructure, and rich history, serves as an ideal backdrop for this global event. The convention is taking place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, a world-class venue that exemplifies Singapore’s status as a global city. Delegates are experiencing Singapore’s unique blend of East meets West, with opportunities to explore its diverse culinary scene, iconic landmarks, and cutting-edge attractions.
Highlights of the Convention
The convention's agenda is packed with plenary sessions, workshops, and breakout meetings designed to inspire and educate. Keynote speakers, including prominent global leaders and humanitarian figures, will address critical issues such as disease prevention, water sanitation, education, and peacebuilding. At the first General Session on Sunday, we will be entertained by the He Xin Lion & Dragon Arts Troupe and musical artist Calum Scott.
In addition to the formal sessions, the House of Friendship will be a central hub of activity. This dynamic space allows attendees to network, share project ideas, and explore various Rotary-related exhibits. It is a melting pot of cultures and ideas, showcasing the diversity and unity within Rotary International. We tend to spend a lot of time in the House of Friendship.
There are 41 members from District 5340 attending the convention and District 5340 is hosting a social at the Carlton Hotel Cooling Tower Rooftop Bar at the Tuesday evening to get us all together. And to expand our networking opportunities, there is a Rotary Zone 26/27 Big West Breakfast Tuesday morning at the Fairmount Hotel.
