Last week, Rotary Zones 26 and 27 provided an update on Rotary's ongoing efforts to eliminate polio. It is with disappointment that we report two additional cases of paralysis caused by the wild poliovirus, one in Afghanistan and one in Pakistan. This year, the total number of wild poliovirus cases has reached ten, equally distributed between the two nations. For context, there were 12 cases in 2023, 30 in 2022, 6 in 2021, and 140 in 2020. Despite this, we have seen overall progress.

Now is an opportune moment to support Rotary's Polio Plus campaign. Every contribution aid in acquiring the necessary vaccines, transportation, and materials to combat polio. Consider donating today. Additionally, you may join the Polio Plus Society by committing to a yearly donation of $100. District 5340 is inviting you to join the District’s PolioPlus Society. Joining is easy!
