On April 20th, 9 Interact Club students from New Delhi, India, along with 2 chaperones, a teacher and Rotarian president-elect, will be arriving in San Diego for a two week Interact student exchange.  This is the first ever Interact student exchange of this kind. The students will be staying with families from the La Jolla Golden Triangle and La Mesa Rotary Clubs and families from the Point Loma High School Interact Club.
 

 
Their days will be very full and will include a mix of education, service projects, cultural exchanges and sightseeing.  They will participate in several Interact Club and Rotary events during their visit. 
 
To get a glimpse of the American education system, they will shadow classes of Interact Club students at Point Loma, King-Chavez, San Pasqual, Del Norte and Borrego Springs High schools.  They will join the San Pasqual Interact Club for a beach clean-up service project, have a beach day with the newly-formed University City High School Interact Club and tour the Midway with the King-Chavez Interact Club.

During their stay the students will participate in Rotarians at Work Day, attend the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club Fundraiser - Arts & Craft Beer Festival on May 2 (www.lajollagtrotary.org) and do a joint Interact Club service project.  Also planned are a tour and lunch on the USD campus, hosted by the USD Rotaract Club.  A private tour of Salk Institute has also been arranged for them, and they will also visit the San Diego Cooperative Charter School and participate in a class and cultural exchange at the Braille Institute.
 
Intermixed with these planned events, the students will visit the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, and Sea World, and also attend a Padres Game along with fireworks on Saturday, May 2 - Rotary Interact Night at Petco Park, planned by the Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club.

The students will also venture out to Borrego Springs for two nights, hosted by the Borrego Springs Rotary Club.  The Borrego Springs Rotary Club and Interact Club have several activities planned for them including a hike, a desert jeep tour, cultural and educational exchanges.
