Ever thought about how you could turn your hobby into a Rotary Fellowship to connect and grow the Family of Rotary?
Well, this is exactly what D5340 Rotarian Brett Morey did in 2017 when he established Surfers Unite Rotarian Fellowship which now has members in 32 countries. As Past President of the Rotary Club of La Jolla Golden Triangle and Founder of Surfers Unite there are some incredible service opportunities that you may want to sign up for and share amazing experiences with family, friends as well as prospective Rotarians.
Surfers Unite Events:
- Sept. 21 - Life Rolls On La Jolla Shores includes over 600 volunteers and 80+ disabled children and adults. Volunteer opportunities include: photography, assisting athletes on the beach, assisting in the water as well as with various other tasks. This event features many of the top occupational and physical therapists from Southern California.
- Sept. 20-22 - Supergirl Pro in Oceanside draws over 25,000 attendees as this women's empowerment event features the top women surfers in the world, free concert events and an amazing exhibition of vendors, yoga classes and activities. Volunteers get a unique behind the scenes opportunity by serving in the VIP area, serving athletes, taking photos and performing other tasks.
- Sept 28 & Oct 26 - Raising over $500,000 with the 100 Wave Challenge for Boys to Men Mentoring. For those interested in supporting this event to reach at-risk youth text "100Wave" to 858-602-2532 to serve as a volunteer, as a surf angel, serve meals or to donate to the cause. Together we will change the lives of young teenage boys.
- Sept. 29 - Baja Surf Event with Rotaract college students in Ensenada. This is an exclusive volunteer opportunity for Rotarians already signed up with the Rotary Club of La Jolla Golden Triangle on the annual Baja project with the Rotary Club of Ensenada Todos Santos as we take 20 college students surfing.
- Nov 9 - Beach Clean Up in Ocean Beach. Invite kids, family members and others in the community to attend this event. Buckets and gloves are provided but limited to 30.
- Dec 7 - 5th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Paddle Out in Del Mar. Hilarious annual tradition as over a dozen surfers wear ugly Christmas sweaters over their full suits and catch waves. Stop by to socialize and enjoy donuts and coffee.
