District 5340's Military Coordinating Committee (DMCC) would like to share their progress in completing their Leave a Legacy project in Freedom Park.
Rotary District 5340 has obtained naming rights for a 16-foot diameter roundel at Freedom Park's entrance. The roundel will feature District 5340’s logo surrounded by granite stone pavers (to be purchased by clubs or individuals). Donations to Rotary International District 5340 Charitable Corporation, a 510c3, will cover the naming rights, the roundel's construction, and the pavers.
Over 2 million people annually are expected to visit the Museum and Freedom Park, walking near the District logo and pavers. This is a very unique opportunity to showcase Rotary and your club or individual members who have or are serving in the military to residents and travelers from around the world who visit San Diego.
Our ask is that Rotary clubs and/or individual members purchase a paver to help complete the roundel.
To date, 16 of 64 club pavers have been purchased, 27 of 45 individual pavers have been purchased, and 43 of 109 total pavers have been purchased.
We have a way to go and are asking clubs to consider participating in such a meaningful project.
