The Rotary Club of Fallbrook very sadly reports the loss of one of its most distinguished members. Don Foulkes passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14.  Don was the club's Poet Laureate.  In his decade of Rotary service he notably distinguished himself as a truly great Rotarian.

His lifetime of service began in World War II where, as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was a bombardier flying with a B-24 crew with the 449th Bomb Group stationed in Southern Italy.  On October 13, 1944 (yes it was a Friday), he was shot down; subsequently spending seven months as a POW in Stalag Luft III in Germany until April 29, 1945 when he was freed by General Patton's Army.

Rotarian Don Foulkes is going to be most sorely missed.  He is the quintessential "Great American" who has been a tremendous inspiration to the Rotary Club of Fallbrook and all who worked along side him.
