October marks the start of Rotary's End Polio Now campaign promotion. As Rotarians, it's vital to sustain the campaign's momentum. For over 35 years, Rotary has committed to eradicating polio, achieving remarkable progress in eliminating it globally. As a key contributor to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we have assisted in reducing polio cases by over 99.9 percent.
Eradicating polio in the remaining two endemic countries and maintaining polio-free status in others is imperative. Concerning data from the conflict-affected area of Gaza also demands attention. Without continued eradication efforts, polio could potentially paralyze up to 200,000 children annually within a decade.
As World Polio Day approaches on October 24, Rotarians are encouraged to utilize the new event templates from Rotary's Brand Center to promote their World Polio Day events. The Brand Center also offers social media graphics, videos, public relations templates, and more to support clubs in raising awareness and funds for PolioPlus. Check back regularly for additional resources available throughout September and October.
Bill Gates recently shared an informative video on the current status of polio eradication and the ongoing challenges. It's a valuable watch and an excellent resource for Rotary club meetings or community education. To view the video, click here.
