The Rotary Club of El Cajon is pleased to announce that one of its own members, Stu Scott, was selected as the 2026 El Cajon Citizen of the Year and we couldn't be prouder.

Stuart "Stu" has been a resident of East County for over 72 years.  Prior to retirement, he was owner of Scott Builders for 40 years as well as a licensed Real Estate Broker.  In a voluntary basis, he has used his construction skills and know-how to assist numerous non-profits with building and remodeling projects throughout his life.

Stu epitomizes the Rotary moto of "Service Above Self".  As a Rotarian for over 50 years, he has served on various board positions including the presidency three times!  He is always willing to donate his time to various projects to help the community.  Most recently he supervised, built and painted picnic tables for local non-profits and schools.  He was instrumental in installing a Rotary Pedestal clock in Prescott Center in El Cajon.  Two years ago, he built storybook oversized chairs that now reside at the Water Conservation Garden on the Cuyamaca College campus for visitors to enjoy.  Of course, he didn't miss the opportunity to make sure a Rotary plaque was affixed to the chairs.  Stu has also been a willing doner and eager participant in raising funds to support the Rotary Club of El Cajon's grant program, which provides to local non-profits funds to carry out their service projects in El Cajon and surrounding communities.

If that's not enough, last year, Stu became involved with the El Cajon Police Department's Retired Senior Volunteer Program where he was involved in YANA (You Are Not Alone) doing wellness checks on seniors once a week. The East County Salvation Army Advisory Board of Directors has welcomed Stu as a member for the past 15 years.  Stu also helps with their Food Bank monthly distribution of food to El Cajon residents.

Stu's positive and uplifting energy makes him a delight to be around and to serve with.  We are very proud of his accomplishments and offer the deepest congratulations.
