The Final Four have been chosen! Earlier this month, twelve talented high school student musicians from across the District competed in the North and South Regional Semi-Finals of the 2024 District 5340 Rotary Youth Instrumental Music Competition. The Regionals were held in Carlsbad and Coronado, each featuring the club-sponsored winners of this year's ten participating RYIMC clubs. Two students from each Regional will now advance to the District Finals to compete for the $2500 Grand Prize, and an invitation to play at the Governor's Dinner in June. Spirited performances on piano, violins, clarinet, saxophone, vibraphone, double bass, flutes, horns and more provided an embarrassment of musical riches for lucky audiences at each Regional. The three professional judges at each competition commented on the high caliber of talent and dedication that the students demonstrated, and our District can take pride in supporting the young music makers of today as they aim to be the stars of tomorrow.
The 2024 District Finals will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 20 at the Carlsbad City Library's Dove Auditorium from 3-5pm. We invite and encourage all District 5340 Rotarians to attend this celebration of the very best young musical artists in our communities, and to support them in their quest for excellence.
