After five days of fellowship, excitement, and cultural exchange, the Rotary International Convention in Singapore ended with a look forward. Speakers during the final general session previewed next year’s gathering, to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Fostering understanding was a central theme of this year’s convention which highlighted Rotary’s history of promoting peace. Rotary Peace Fellows María Antonia Pérez and Clara-Valentine Tigenoah celebrated the 25th year since the Rotary Peace Centers program was announced. Attendees also heard from keynote speaker Graça Machel, co-founder of the global leadership group The Elders, and Nacho Dean, a naturalist and entrepreneur who walked 20,000 miles and swum between five continents.
