This year marks a monumental milestone for the Global Network of Gift of Life, celebrating 50 years of providing lifesaving cardiac care to children in the developing world. Since its founding in 1975, the network has expanded to 84 affiliated programs in 60 countries across 5 continents, collectively saving the lives of over 62,500 children with heart disease. Today, a child receives care through the Gift of Life worldwide network every 99 minutes.
The La Jolla Sunrise Rotary club in partnership with District 5340 through its participation has saved the lives of 1000 children since 2006.
Gift of Life delivers hope to children with heart disease and to their families by empowering doctors and nurses with the tools, training, funding and support they need to treat children in their country of birth. They help develop sustainable pediatric cardiac programs in emerging countries through strategic guidance and expand their global reach through partnerships with like-minded organizations such as Rotary to maximize our impact.
