Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary (CHNR) is enlarging its scholarship opportunities this year for high school seniors residing in Carlsbad. Scholarship opportunities for students interested in college have been in place for decades, but Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary is now providing scholarship funds to students interested in trade or technical schools.  ALL seniors who live in Carlsbad or attend a high school in Carlsbad are eligible.

To raise the additional funds for this significant expansion, and because of Covid concerns about large events, the club is organizing a Scholarship Raffle with a monetary prize. Tickets are $20 each or six for $100.  Tickets may be purchased from CHNR Rotarians and by mail to the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Foundation, PO Box 130175, Carlsbad, CA 92013.  Those tickets will be mailed back to the purchaser.  Raffle ticket purchases online are not possible pursuant to California regulations, but donations to the club’s foundation also support scholarships.  CHNR Foundation ID 33-0345307.   To learn more, click "Read More."

There will be only 3,000 tickets sold.  Raffle prizes include:  first prize of $5,000; second prize is $2,500; third prize is an exclusive wine basket valued at least $1,000; and prize number four will be a surprise.  The raffle will conclude on Thursday, March 30 and the raffle drawing will be held on April 3, 2023 at the Rotary meeting (Westin Carlsbad, noon). Winners need not be present to win. Proceeds of the raffle will go into the Scholarship Fund of CHNR Foundation for distribution.

For the past 25 years, CHNR has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships.  The February/March Scholarship Raffle will raise the funds to expand the scholarship offerings with emphasis on trade and technical schools as well. With major fundraising events cancelled or reduced, this raffle opens an option for parents, community members and businesses to support the advanced education of our Carlsbad youth in a variety of new venues.  This year’s added focus on trade and technical schools is an important gateway for many young people.

Further information is available at the CHNR website:  www.carlsbadhinoonrotary.org.  All high school seniors who live or attend school in Carlsbad are eligible.  Students who attend out-of-city schools may apply if they have a Carlsbad home address.  The scholarship application and scholarship policy are presented on the club’s website (carlsbadhinoonrotary.org). Scholarship application deadline is Wednesday, March 29, 2023 directed to the address on the application.

This Scholarship Raffle will advance the educational opportunities for Carlsbad’s young people.  Please help CHNR help our students and their parents with your raffle ticket purchase.
