Members of the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club toured Canine Companions for Independence on Friday last week. The group presented Canine Companions with a check for $1200. This amazing program trains 50 dogs per year on the Oceanside campus alone. They train service teams, skilled companions, facility dogs, PTSD and hearing dogs. Since 1975, Canine Companions has provided assistance dogs free of charge to receipients in need. Each dog costs about $10,000 to train, but they are priceless to their recipients.
