California State Senator Catherine Blakespear was inducted as an honorary member of the Solana Beach ECO Rotary Club on the evening of October 20, 2026, during a club meeting at the Solana Beach Boys & Girls Club. The induction followed her remarks on environmental protection and the shared commitment of the Senator and the Club to advancing practical climate solutions.
Before the ceremonial induction, which included the presentation of an honorary Rotary pin and Rotary apparel, Senator Blakespear discussed how her environmental priorities align with the Club’s mission: “Climate Solutions Within Our Reach.” The Club is dedicated to educating its members and communities about environmental challenges and engaging in the implementation of solutions.
Blakespear’s environmental record includes helping advance Encinitas’ transition to 100% renewable electricity during her tenure as mayor. As a state senator, she has championed legislation addressing plastic pollution, wildlife habitat conservation, solar energy incentives, and human-wildlife coexistence. She has also played a leadership role in California’s environmental policy, including efforts to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions through the state’s cap-and-invest program.
The Senator was warmly welcomed by Alisa Morrison and Jenny Parker, co-presidents of the Solana Beach ECO Rotary Club, whose members share the broader Rotary community’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.
The honorary membership recognizes the alignment between Senator Blakespear’s environmental leadership and the Club’s commitment to advancing local action and broader solutions to environmental challenges.
