Last weekend’s Multi-District Conference was a beautiful reminder of what becomes possible when Rotarians unite across districts with open hearts, shared purpose, and a commitment to service.

This extraordinary gathering was brought to life through the vision and collaboration of District Governors Luis Carranza, District 5340; Nyron McLean, District 5330; Craig Livingston, District 5320; and Gilda Moshir, District 5300, along with the many dedicated Rotarians, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, speakers, and partners who helped turn an idea into an inspiring experience.

Throughout the weekend, attendees were moved by powerful speakers, thoughtful workshops, meaningful fellowship, and hands-on service projects, including food packaging, the WAPI water purification project, and human trafficking awareness and prevention kits. Each experience reflected Rotary’s heart for service and its power to create hope.

Another inspiring highlight was seeing Interactors host their own Multi-District Interact Conference alongside Rotary leaders. Their energy, confidence, and sense of purpose reminded everyone that the future of Rotary is already rising.

The conference also honored generosity and service at the highest levels, recognizing Major Donors, including LuAnn Miller from the Rotary Club of Coronado, Arch Klumph Society members, including our own Past District Governor Marge Cole from the Rotary Club of Mission Valley Evening, and many Rotarians whose gifts continue changing lives around the world. A deeply moving moment came with the recognition of three Southern California Rotarians who received Rotary’s Service Above Self Award, including Robin Chappelow from the Rotary Club of Rancho Santa Fe.

The conference was strengthened by the presence and inspiration of Past Rotary International President Gordon R. McInally and his wife, Heather; RI Director Wyn Spiller; RI Director Nominee John Chase; Rotary Foundation Trustee Vicki Puliz; Laura Mellow, Rotary International Major Gifts Officer and member of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo Sunrise, who served as a guest speaker for The Rotary Foundation; Captain Kyle Caldwell from the Rotary Club of San Diego; and Miquette McMahon. Special appreciation also goes to Jordan Harrison from the Rotary Club of San Diego, who served as MC, and Amanda Wirtz, President of the Rotary E-Club of San Diego, whose inspirational National Anthem opened the conference beautifully.

The gathering was filled with learning, service, friendship, laughter, and joy. Most of all, it reminded everyone that Rotary is at its best when we come together, serve together, and believe together in a better world.
