The Rotary Club of Del Mar is hosting its annual Chili & Quackers Challenge on October 12, 2019 from noon to 4:00 pm at Powerhouse Park located at 1658 Coast Blvd., Del Mar, CA. The Ducky Derby race will start at 2:30 pm when the Del Mar lifeguards take thousands of rubber duckies into the Pacific surf, release them, and corral them back to shore. The first 10 ducks to reach the shore will win thousands of dollars in prizes for the lucky persons who adopted them.
The Chili Cook-off will occur from noon to 3:00 pm. Chili chefs compete for the Chili Cook-off trophy and a $100 prize. Attendees can vote for their favorite by dropping in their voting tickets in that chef's voting box. The chef that gets the most votes wins. Along with the derby and chili cookoff, attendees can visit the beer and wine tent. There will plenty of fun games for kids!
Admission is free, ducky adoption options and food and drink have a charge associated with them. Proceeds support the Rotary club's charitable activities and the local communities and schools, as well as underserved nations around the world. For more information, please go to the club website.
