Dear Rotary Leaders,

New Assistant Governor
John Forst
, Past President of the San Marcos Rotary Club will be replacing Joan Boughton as an Assistant Governor in 2006-07. He will be working on the Group G clubs with Ray Schmidt.

Rick King Visit to Del Mar Solana Beach
Past President of Rotary International Rick King
will be the guest speaker at the Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club on August 25 (next Friday). He is one of the best speaker in Rotary. Please announce this opportunity at your club meeting, so that people who have never heard him might be able to do so. They still have room available and they would like a big crowd for this event. Contact Steve Bimson for more information.

Follow up with TRF Alumni
The Alumni of The Rotary Foundation are past GSE Team Members, Ambassadorial Scholars, Rotary Volunteers, or recipients of a Grant for University Teachers. If your club has sponsored or hosted an alumni in the past, try to make sure that you are staying in touch with them, whether they are currently in San Diego or not. We want to have them stay connected with Rotary. Some of them might be a good source for new members, or to participate in Rotary projects. The most recent Alumni are listed in the online directory. Please take a minute to go there (Rotary Foundation pages on the right column) and make sure that their contact information is correct.

PolioPlus Update
The fight against Polio continues. We are down to 4 endemic countries only. Nigeria is the country with the most year-to-date cases (671 as of Aug 15). You can see the latest information on the Global Polio Eradication Initiative website.

Humanitarian Efforts in Lebanon
Rotarians continue their efforts to provide humanitarian support to the refugees in Lebanon. See this article on the Rotary International website. The Pathways to Peace Committee in our District is working through Miko Peled of the Rotary Club of Coronado. Please contact him if you want to participate.
