Dear Rotary Leaders,

International Assembly Host Hospitality Cancelled
We have been notified by Rotary International that the duration of the International Assembly in San Diego had to be shortened by one day. The new dates are January 28 to February 3. As a consequence, the training program has changed, and the DGEs don't have a free afternoon and evening any more. This means that we will not be able to have a Host Hospitality event in 2007. This was due to a scheduling conflict in 2007 only, and we have been told that the Host Hospitality event would be back the following year, in 2008. We will still need volunteers in 2007 to be greeters at the airport, and to participate to a few other activities. Details will be announced later.

New Generation Club
As announced at the membership seminar, and during my club visits, we are still collecting names and contact information for potential members of a New Generation Rotary Club. Members of this club would be young professionals 30 to 40 years old (no hard limit though). They would meet at cocktail hour, without a meal, so that there will not be a scheduling conflict with work or family life. Send us some names and contact information if you know such individuals who could not join your own club. Maybe you also have some family members in this situation. We will build this list until we find an area with enough people to start a new club.

Online Directory password
We currently have 3,257 active Rotarians listed in the online directory. That's 87% of the district membership. This is the most reliable source to find the contact information for fellow Rotarians. The District Office is receiving many inquiries about the username and password. Remember that you have many new club members who don't know about the online directory. Please make announcements at your club meetings that this resource is available, and tell them the username and password.

Youth Meeting August 10
The next meeting of the Youth Abuse and Harassment Prevention Committee is going to be on August 10 at 3 pm. at the District office. This was announced in the last issue of Quickbits. All the information from the previous meetings has been published on the District website on the Youth Service page.

Matching Grant website
Remember to plan early for the matching grants you will want to do this year. If you wait too long we might run out of matching funds, and the approval process with TRF will take much longer. If you want to do a project but do not have selected one already, I invite you to do a search on the Matching Grant website. You can search by regions, countries, categories, etc. For instance, you can search for Water projects in Africa. You can also contact me if you want some recommendations. I have some personal friends I have worked with in the past who are looking for funding for some of their projects right now.
