Dear Rotary Leaders,

Membership Seminar
Many thanks to Membership Chair Mary Griffin, and PDG Mike Stelman for a wonderful Membership Seminar this morning. We had around 60 people attending. Now it is time to put everything we learned in motion... Remember to send us the name of the people who could join a New Generation Club.

Club Email Distribution List
If you have all your members listed in the online directory, then you can easily send an email to all your club members by using a special email address on our district website. If "123" is your club number, then you can send an email to club123@rotary5340.org, and it will be automatically redirected to all your club members. This email address is not listed anywhere so that spam robots cannot find it anywhere. Feel free to use it, but don't abuse it.

Quickbits Submissions
If we don't hear about it in Quickbits, maybe it did not happen! Clubs are invited to make their submissions to Quickbits using the online submission form. There are however some rules to follow. You can announce your fundraisers, but you should not have any pricing in there making it a solicitation to another club. Just give the basic information, and give a link to your club website for more information. You are also limited to 2 submissions per event, and no more than 3 club events per year.
Also, try to remind your club members that they can signup to receive the Quickbits. At this time, we have 1,100 people signed up for Quickbits out of 3,250 listed in the online directory, that's only 34%. People can signup for Quickbits through their record in the online directory, or through the main Quickbits page.

Insurance information
Ever had a question about insurance for your club and events? There is a good chance you will find an answer on the Insurance Overview section of the Rotary International website. There is now a way to create a certificate of insurance online. If you still have questions, you can also contact our District Insurance Chair Pete Griffith.

August 1 District Council
The program for the August 1 District Council will be the MusiCamp Youth Symphony. This is the first time we will have a classical music event like that at District Council. Don't miss it! You can find a link to the online registration page in the calendar section at the bottom.

Thousand Laughs for Thousand Smiles
Many of the clubs in the District are involved with Thousand Smiles. They have a fundraising event on August 18, at the Sycuan resort & Casino. You can buy tickets online on the La Mesa Sunrise website. You can show your support by announcing this fun event to your club members.

Yellow Pages
We have some great Yellow Pages on the District website. We need to have more Rotarians signup to be listed in there. A random listing from the Yellow Pages is displayed on the District home page, which receives over 5,000 hits per month. That's a lot of advertizing! Please encourage your club members to signup online. The cost is $50 per year for a simple listing, or $150 per year for a listing with a graphical banner. The proceeds from the Yellow Pages help to support the district and the website development efforts.
You should also encourage your club members to search the Rotary Yellow Pages to find a trusted professional.

Rolling Readers Literacy program
Literacy is one of the emphasis of RI President Bill Boyd. If your club wants to take action, there is a great program called Rolling Readers USA. Volunteers would need to attend a training session on August 26. Click here for more information, or contact Marge Cole from the Mission Valley Rotary Club.

Email Communications
Remember to copy your club Assitant Governor (AG) for all district and club communications. Keep them informed at all time of what is going on in your club. They are here to help you. They cannot help if they are kept in the dark...
