Issue 2
Dear Rotary Leaders,
Leadership Pathways
Here is some additional information on this newsletter. First, I
wanted to point out that I selected the name in accordance with the
2006-07 Rotary theme: Lead the Way. Second, you might be wondering
who is receiving this newsletter. This
newsletter is mostly meant for Club Presidents, Assistant Governors, and
the most significant district committee chairs, but I am also sending
a copy to the club secretaries, Presidents-Elect, advisory council,
and some of our friends outside the district. So there is no need to
forward it to them or they would receive multiple copies. If you
would like somebody else to be included in the distribution list,
just send me their email address and I will be happy to add
them.
Leadership Pages on District Website
The leadership pages on the District website have been updated
with the 2006-07 lists. Please make sure that your club leadership pages
are up-to-date. The information comes from what we have in the
District Online Directory. Spend a
minute to go to
www.rotary5340.org/clubweb/index.html, click on your club, then click
on "Club Leadership" under the president's picture. If
the list is not correct, see the
online directory help
file for instructions on how to update the club positions. The same
data is used for the Leadership page on your club website if you are
using ClubWeb.
PowerPoint Template with 2006-07 Theme
If you need to make a PowerPoint presentation this Rotary year,
you might be interested in the template I used at the June 27 District
Council. This template uses the "Lead the Way" 2006-07 Rotary
theme, and you can download it at this address:

New Public Relations (PR) Chair
Nancy Russian from the Torrey Pines Rotary Club will be replacing
PDG Larry Scott as Public Relations
Chair for the District. Nancy has been very active (and will
stay active) in the RYLA program. Please make sure that the PR Chair of
your club is aware of this leadership change.
Rotarians At Work Presentations
PDG Bob Watson and Jim Roth will be contacting the clubs
to ask if they can give a club program about
Rotarians At Work. This is a great way to remind your club
members of the success of this program last year, and to get ready
to do even better this year. I recommend that you try to shedule them at
your club.
Resources for New Club Officers
I emailed last week to the Club Presidents, Club Secretaries and
Assistant Governors, a document containing information resources
for new club officers. This was created by the Club and District
Support staff at Rotary International. If you have not received it
you can look at it on the District website at
www.rotary5340.org/pdf/clubinfo06.pdf.
2006-07 Theme Pins
I was asked many times about the Theme Pins we distributed at
PETS. These are the ones with the cutaway
shape, and they are by far the best design of all the pins we
could find. Norm Rauch of the Rotary Club of Poway placed a new order to
the manufacturer in India. I now have a new stock of 200
pins, and if you want some you can purchase them from me at $1.50
per pin, on a first come first served basis, while supplies
last.
Demotion/Installation Celebrations
In the last couple of weeks, I have attended the
demotion/installation celebrations for 7
clubs. I thought I would be able to do more, but a lot of the
clubs had their events on the same nights, or before I came back from
Copenhagen. All these events were a lot of fun, and we had wine at
many of them, so many thanks to all these clubs for inviting
me...
