Issue 16
Dear Rotary Leaders,
Happy New Year!
Or should I say Bonne
Année!?! We have just passed the middle of the Rotary Year.
This means you should be all set in your clubs and the rest of the year
will be a walk in the park for us all! We are not quite finished yet,
still many things to come in the next 6 months. The highlight will be the
District Conference in Ensenada, but we will also have some
District Council dinners, the International Convention in Salt Lake City,
and also lots of training for the 2007-08 leadership: PETS, District
Assembly, Seminars, etc. Please take your President-Elect under your wing
and make sure they are fully prepared for their year!
Leadership Meeting Minutes
The District Leadership has an official meeting prior to each
District Council dinner. You can read the minutes of these meetings on
the webpage for
2006-07
Materials. The draft minutes from the December meeting have just been
published.
Paul Harris Society Brochure
The Rotary Foundation has produced a new brochure
to explain the Paul Harris Society. The Paul Harris Society
recognizes Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who annually
contribute $1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund,
PolioPlus, and PolioPlus Partners, or the Humanitarian Grants Program.
The brochure gives credit to our District and PDG Wayne Cusick for
establishing the first Paul Harris Society. You can download this new
brochure on the
RI Website.
District Council Registration
The registration for the February 13 District Council
dinner has been released on the
District
website. This will be an exciting and entertaining program about
Wine Tasting. Because we will
be serving some wine with the dinner as part of the program, we had to
raise the price to $45 for this
specific event. Please make the necessary announcements in your clubs to
explain that to all your membership.
RI and TRF Annual Reports
The 2005-06 Financial Reports for
Rotary International and
The Rotary Foundation have been published on the RI Website. Check
the Download Center of the RI website for additional documents. Check
Club-District Support/RI Financial Reports, and
The Rotary Foundation/Financial Reports.
Trip to East Africa
A group of 9 Rotarians from our District will visit
Uganda and Kenya from January 9 to 24. We will visit past
project sites, and look for new projects. We will publish daily stories
from our trip on the District website at
www.rotary5340.org/foundation/alumni/9200/index.htm. Check this page
later for the latest news. We will also give a report on this trip at the
Alumni Association Meeting on February 8 at the Braille Institute.
All are welcome to attend.
