Issue 15
Dear Rotary Leaders,
District Council
I need your help to promote the upcoming
District
Council dinner on Dec 12. We are one week away and we are still under
our minimum guarantee with the hotel. The District could lose some money
on this event. We have a great program scheduled for you. Please contact
your club members again to make sure everybody knows about it, and double
check the
list on the district website to make sure everybody is registered
properly.
PETS Registration
We are sending some reminder emails to the Club Presidents if
your President-Elect is not registered for
PETS. We are also sending
some reminder emails if you are registered but
not paid for PETS. The registration
price for the main package will go up by
$55 on January 13, 2007. You must be registered
and paid prior to January 13 to get
the pre-registration price.
4-Way-Test Speech Contest
Many thanks to the past Chair of the 4-Way-Test Speech Contest -
Bill Smelko - for many years of service for this contest, but he
cannot chair this event this year since he is no longer in Rotary. I have
asked
Mel Gallegos of the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club to take
over this program until a replacement is found. If your club is involved
in this contest, please make sure you are dealing with Mel Gallegos, and
not Bill Smelko. Please contact Mel Gallegos if somebody from your club
wants to be involved in the Committee.
Leadership & Development Academy
December 15 is the deadline for registration to the 5th class of
the Leadership
& Development Academy. This is highly recommended for the
incoming club officers, and especially the Presidents-Elect. As an
Academy graduate you will find it so much easier to lead your club and
club committees. The
2007 schedule
and
registration form are on the District website.
Online Directory Updates
Over 3,000 emails went out to the Rotarians of the District on
Dec 4 to ask them to review (and update if needed) their contact
information in the District
Online Directory. As a result of this mass mailing we had over 300
records updated in 24 hours, and close to 100 people signed up to receive
the Quickbits. However, about 200 of these emails bounced back for one
reason or another. In the next few days some notification
emails will be sent to the Club Presidents and Club Secretaries
to notify them of these bounced emails. I apologize for the number of
emails you might receive regarding this issue. We need your collaboration
to make sure our membership database stays up-to-date.
December is Family Month
I invite you to look at President Bill Boyd's
Resource Group page on the RI Website with lots of resources and new
ideas.
