We started with breakfast at the Stevens house Sunday morning after visiting a San Diego State basketball game Saturday evening courtesy of Encinitas Rotarian Dennis Cook. We then were off to Sea World and a visit with Shamu. Monday we visited Quail Botanical Garden and had a tour from its director Rotarian Julian Duval. Then on to the Ecke YMCA for a tour and lunch. The afternoon featured a reception hosted by the Collins and Stevens families. Included were 5 Dist Gov elects plus our own Dist Gov Bob Watson. The outbound team to 9100 met the inbound team and it's Gov elect Humberto Santo, seen playing the guitar, with Irene Ampaw singing beautiful Ghanaian songs. It was a memorable party capped with the induction of Gov Bob into chiefdom.
Monday the team toured the Encinitas Union School district. Following the tour where the team received a hand painted quilt by students of Carmel Creek Elementary School. The team then made an excellent presentation to the Encinitas Rotary Club about Ghana and their backgrounds. Team leader Ralph can indeed be proud of the fine group of teachers he has brought with him. We were sorry we had to hand them off. They were wonderful guests.
