The
Group Study Exchange Program is a unique cultural and
vocational exchange opportunity that for Rotary Year 2002-2003
offers the opportunity for teachers from our communities to
participate in this valuable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This group study exchange will offer to the
participants the most unique and rewarding skills-building
opportunity and personal growth experience available to those
of the teaching profession as they help to lead humanity
forward to face the challenges of this 21st
century.
Their
journey will give them a new perspective on the world and on
life. The nature of the Group Study Exchange Program and the
integrity of the Rotary network will make the participants
feel at home, even on the other side of the globe.
Teachers will find the people of Eritrea with all the
hopes, aspirations and ideals very much like their own.
The sense of neighborliness and generosity that will
pervade this exchange will remain with the participants
throughout their life.
Through
this Group Study Exchange, participants will discover that we
are all citizens of a global village, and that we need to live
together in mutual respect, with genuine care and compassion
for each other. I encourage the educators, throughout our
communities, to apply for this unique opportunity.
Under the Chairmanship of Past District Governor Steve Brown,
and the spirited leadership of Team Leader and Assistant
Governor Bill Ashman, the Group Study Exchange Team to Eritrea
will have an eye-opening experience that will demonstrate the
meaningful work that can result from individual initiative and
collective effort.
I look forward to welcoming those educators who
will be participating in our District 5340 Group Study
Exchange to Eritrea during Rotary Year 2002-2003.
