McLoadGanj
A
few miles above Dharamsala is the famous town of McLoadGanj
often called the "Little Lhasa". This is the
residence of HH the Dalai Lama. The
Tibetan Government in exile has been here for almost four
decades. The main monastery in
McLoadGanj is the Namgyal Monastery. This is where I teach to the monks. The middle-top picture on the
previous page is taken from Dharamsala and it shows the
monastery on top of the hill. Here are a few closer shots.
Video
Editing Teaching
I
have
spent most of the week at the Namgyal Monastery. They have a
video lab with good equipment. They have two digital video
cameras, a switcher, and a Macintosh computer for digital
video editing. But they do not know how to use the software
for video editing. I will spend the month working with a few
monks, to teach them how to make better use of the
equipment. You can see me in the video lab.
On
my left is Tenzin Phunstok, the main monk I am training. On
my right is the grammarian checking the video titles in
Tibetan. Tibetan writing is very difficult to master! We are
working on editing the teachings of the Dalai Lama. Each
teaching takes 3 to 7 days, and they filmed continuously
each day, so there is a lot of footage! For lunch, I usually
join the monks, and I am the only one not wearing a robe in
the room!
Tomorrow
we have a big Rotary meeting. The District Governor is
visiting, and this will be the day before the National
Immunization Day. They will also give awards to local
community people.
