On December 8, 2011 Doug Manchester and John Lynch purchased the San Diego Union Tribune. According to the new ownership, "The 143 year old business had seen a steep decline in the last ten years of the Copley ownership and the slashing, cost cutting years of the Platinum Equity." Manchester and Lynch have forged a bold plan to reposition and grow the U-T, through building a large, innovative integrated media business.
