District Governor, 2015-2016

Under the provisions of the Rotary International Bylaws, Section 13.020.9, where there is no Challenging Candidate, the District Governor is to declare the candidate of the district nominating committee to be the governor-nominee, who will become district governor for the term of 2015-16. There were no challenging candidates.

It is therefore our honor and pleasure to make the declaration that JANICE KURTH, of the Rotary Club of Del Mar, will serve as District Governor for the Rotary year 2015-16.

We all look forward to her continued leadership and work as she serves Rotary International and our wonderful District 5340.

Welcome 'Miss Los Angeles'

Monet Bagneris, a USC graduate, currently serves as Miss Los Angeles County. She won the the Talent Award at the Miss California competition in June 2012 while accompanying herself on the piano.

On the same day Monet competed for Miss California, her grandfather, Meredith Beal, received a Congressional Gold medal in Washington D.C. for his service as a Montford Point Marine during World War II.

Monet will be touring schools and speaking at health fairs. She helped recruit Pasadena into the statewide Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) campaign backed by the League of California Cities and the California Center for Public Health Advocacy.

"It is important for me to have a position like this to encourage kids to live healthy lifestyles and encourage parents, community activists and lawmakers to work together to secure a healthier future for them," said Bagneris.

This past weekend, PDG Larry Sundram, a member of the Rotary E-Club of the United Services inducted Monet into the E Club.

Here he is giving Monet his Rotary pin after sharing his experience as a Rotarian and how Rotary International continues to positively impact the world.

Please join us in welcoming Monet to Rotary and to our District. (Go to "More Information" for a YouTube of Monet's talent)
