Saturday, January 27 was a day in which Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club members, Rotary Interact students and Teen Volunteers in Action completed their tree planting project at the Sikes Adobe park, part of the San Diego River Park.   On the previous Wednesday, a dozen Rotarians prepared for the planting by cutting poultry netting (i.e., chicken wire) and shade cloth and then Saturday the larger team led by Chairman and President-Elect, Doug Dawson planted 70 trees in various areas around the Sike Adobe historic farmstead. After several hours of labor, everyone gathered for refreshments and a celebration where Doug presented a check in the amount of $1000 to Ranger David Vidal and Executive Director of the San Diego River park, Kevin McKernan.  Coupled with the 14 trees planted at Abraxas High School in December, this puts the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo at 20% above its goal and commitment to Rotary International's goal of one tree for every member worldwide.
