The (Noon) Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo held its first ever once-a-month evening meeting on Thursday, March 13, at its regular meeting place, Bernardo Heights Country Club.  There were 18 guests at the event, which is designed to attract people who might be interested in getting involved with Rotary but have difficulty taking time from their work day to attend a breakfast or lunch meeting. Two impressive checks were presented to worthy organizations.

Diane Self accepted a check for $3795 for Freedom Station, a local organization whose mission is to help recovering injured military service members. Freedom Station provides transitional housing along with career and educational guidance to medically retired or discharged military service members. District Governor Carl Kruse accepted a check for $2425 to Polio Plus in response to RI President Ron Burton’s recent challenge to every Rotary Club in the world to donate at least $1500.  (see photo at left)

City Councilman Mark Kersey was the speaker at the event.

Everyone is welcome to attend future meetings from 5:30 to 7:00 on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
