The District 5340 Membership Kick-off on Saturday on SaturdayJuly 9 was filled with valuable information for recruiting & retaining members. It was a great way to start off the new Rotary year! Many thanks to our facilitators, Steve Lingenbrink and Mitty Chang, fantastic job!

The morning began with the first speaker, Steve Lingenbrink, a lawyer in Seattel, telling us about attending his first Rotary meeting.  Here is a link to a YouTube video of that presentation:

Be sure to watch the entire video, because, in telling his story, he actually gives us some valuable insights into some reasons that a visit to a Rotary Club can go wrong.  He also points out why it is so important to understand that most non-Rotarians don't really know what Rotary is all about.

Those who attended were asked to fill out an assessment questionnaire that could help us evaluate our club's strengths and possible weaknesses.

As the morning progressed, we listened and participated in some discussions with others about questions raised during the presentation.  Here is a link to a DropBox section  that contains a lot of resources for your club's membership recruitment efforts.  It includes the questionnaire I mentioned above.  ( Note: The DropBox  link above has been corrected.)

After reviewing the workbook and viewing the YouTube video, you will have some new insights into how to successfully invite a new potential  member to visit your club.

Invite someone to your next meeting to share the Rotary story and the great work your club is doing in the community!
