Hands of Peace San Diego will begin it's summer program in July. If you are not familiar with the wonderful work this organization does, please check the website. There are a number of events open to interested Rotarians in July to get acquainted with Hands of Peace. Please contact Jenny Parker at jenny@jparkermd.net if interested.

July 21 7-9pm - This is a chance to meet the founders of this organization as well as the young participants at a supporters reception at a private home.

July 22 is about religious tolerance. From 1:45-3pm there will be a Religious Leaders Panel. How often do you get to ask deep questions to a priest, rabbi, imam, minister, Buddhist monk and atheist in one setting? These are phenomenal speakers as well. You may also attend a Muslim prayer service at a mosque before and a Jewish prayer service at a temple after if interested.

July 23 6-8:30pm is a celebration of Middle Eastern Culture. HOP participants make some fabulous ethnic food, perform some funny skits, sing and dance. It's another great opportunity to meet the participants.

July 28 at 12:30-3pm Azim Khamisa will speak at Pacific Ridge High School .I highly recommend this - he is a powerful speaker. His son was killed many years ago in random gang violence (an 'initiation right') while he was delivering pizzas. Instead of getting angry, Azim reached out to the killer and his family. Together they formed an amazing organization that speaks to kids and prisons about violence, forgiveness, healing, social justice. He has written 3 books on the topic.

July 31 6-9pm - Farewell Celebration. The kids will give speeches about their experience and show short videos. There will be great food, music and more opportunity to meet the participants, founders and organizers.
